After an extremely active first year, ACM went into a period of hibernation. That being said, it’s time to wake up and take notice because we have a whole slew of exciting events planned for the up coming year.
First off, we have two major social events planned for the semester, we’re going to be playing a campus wide game of Humans Vs Zombies in the up coming weeks, and we’re going to start monthly Laser Tag Tournaments soon as well.
In terms of workshops, we’re planning on starting with some tutorials on the creative sides of computing – with Visual Effects, Photoshop and Game Design. We’re also planning on floating a small workshop on analog electronics and embedded systems.
Perhaps most importantly, we’re finally amping up our professional activities – we’re going to be working on getting mock interviews, tech talks from industry and resume review workshops going sometime later this year.
We also have our own office space that’s being set up – we’ve been allocated some space in the university workshop to use as an office/lab for project space. We’re currently in the process of setting it up and making that space operational.
Finally, in December this year, we’re going to be holding executive elections- if you’d like to get heavily involved in the development of ACM, through becoming an office bearer, remember that only ACM Student Members can vote for, or run in, the election process.
Remember to keep an eye on the event calendar and our facebook page for upcoming events! And as always, if you have an idea that you’d like to work on or see implemented, approach one of the executives and we can collaborate to make it happen.
